In May 2017, works related to the construction and commissioning of the Gas Meter Calibration Laboratory in Hołowczyce were completed, and the process of preparing the market offer began. Since June 2017, the LWG has functioned as a stand-alone organisational unit in the structure of Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. in the Laboratory Division. The opening ceremony of the Gas Meter Calibration Laboratory took place on 6 November 2017.
The need for a laboratory to calibrate gas meters at operating pressure was considered as early as in the 1990s. Therefore, based on the experience of other countries, work began to create a high-pressure station to calibrate gas meters in Poland.
GAZ-SYSTEM as a company established to ensure the transport of natural gas in Poland became a natural entity to ensure an increase in the accuracy of transmitted gas settlements. This need resulted in the commencement of works aiming at establishing the Gas Meter Calibration Laboratory.
